The Producer

Cheryl is a woman of color—born and raised in the City of Detroit, Michigan. She is a filmmaker dedicated to making films that showcase women of color in all their fabulous-ness. Cheryl is highly influenced by the spirit and uniqueness that living in the Motor City inspires and she uses her vision, tenacity and experience to fulfill her life-long desire to show women of color on screen as they really are.

Cheryl has experience as a producer, director, writer and editor through the Capstone Film Program at Wayne State University and is actively developing independent projects through her production company Minerva’s Legacy Films. The best way to describe Cheryl’s approach to filmmaking is through the philosophy of meliorism that is to say she is driven by the belief that the world will only improve through both divine intervention and human effort. She plans to change the world by telling stories that are culturally realistic, positive and empowering.

Cheryl has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a concentration in Film from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
